Well, kind and gentle readers, I fell behind. And once I fell behind, I hit that slippery slope…you know the one, that daunting, why even bother 90-degree-angle blocker that makes it even harder to get back up and make up for lost time.

But the good thing is, I have been drawing, and bringing my big sketchbook out more. My mind wanders to my paintings. So while I’m not painting like I’d hoped, I’m still feeling small shifts in my focus. Thinking about what it would be like if art was more of my daily grind.

This was a bit of a distracted and lazy sketch. The product of a lovely sunny afternoon spent on that grassy hill behind the jumpy castle at the Lake Merritt farmer’s market. It’s become one of my favorite spots to sit and watch the gorgeous parade of Oakland wander by…and I invariably run into peoples dear to me.

We had kettle corn, roasted pork knuckle, and a baby (no, we didn’t eat the baby…it’s just that improper parallel construction amuses me).
